5-minute tip for a safer Halloween (for dogs and kids!)

It's one of the "slap your forehead" tips that we wish we'd thought of - but we've been using it for so many years no we've forgotten where to give credit.

To keep dogs inside, trick-or-treaters outside and everybody safe; lock your storm door and remove the top window or screen. That's it! Takes about five minutes and you're all ready for hordes of trick-or-treaters to ring the bell.

Your visitors will enjoy seeing your adorable dogs, the dogs will have a grand old time barking at the trick-or-treaters, and you'll be much happier with no chance of dogs slipping out.

Our house is full of short people, so it's a bit of a reach - but the trick-or-treaters are always happy to lift up their bags for treats. And their watchful parents are always grateful we're keeping everyone safe.
